The fabulous Le Klint lamps are hand folded in Denmark from a single flat sheet of plastic. They come ready assembled in a box complete with 5 feet of white flex electrical cord and a ceiling rose cover.
It is not just a lamp. It is a sculpture, an expression of art and design which forms a part of the room. It diffuses a soft light and constantly attracts the eye to reveal new and surprising effects. Where the shadows form are just as important as the illumination in creating the feeling of peace and contentment.
Le Klint lamps are aesthetics at a high level. They are based on origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding which can produce the most amazing figures out of just a flat sheet of paper. At Le Klint's lamp factory in Odense production is sys-tematised and industrialised, but the actual lampshades are still hand folded by women who produce magical results with their skilled and dextrous hands. The apprecenticeship for this task is long, it can take up to 3 years to master the whole range of shades.
